When you join Second Life, you will have the choice of becoming one the avatars you see above. You will be what is known as a "Newbie". Thousands of people are joining all the time and they will all look just like you.
One of the first questions that may come to mind is, "Will I always look like this?". The answer is NO. There are four basic ways to change your appearance.
First, you can try making changes to your appearance by yourself. Your viewer will have an appearance mode, where you can resculpt your avatar. This works well for some people, but for others it is not so simple and they end up with an avatar that looks like a mutant.
Second, you can go out and buy a new body, or a new skin. This is not a bad way to go, although, there are a limited number of choices and you might want to keep in mind that thousands of other people are buying the same body, or skin.
Third, there are freebie locations around Second Life where you can find free shapes and skins.
Fourth, you can come to Castillo del Corazón, where Lady Yole, or her brother Rocky Greymyst, will be happy to help you "clone" your avatar to match one of their sculpted avatars, and it will only take about a half hour to become a non-newbie. Of course there will be other people with the same look, but not thousands of them. You will belong to a select group. Also, keep in mind that you can make your own little adjustments to personalize your look, which Yole and Rocky will be happy to help you with. There is no charge for this.
