VRML Script

VRML, otherwise known as "Virtual Reality Markup Language", is a basis for Virtual Reality and 3d generator programs. The basic concepts found in VRML are seen all the time in cartoons, movies and video games. If you have never had any experience with computer programming, you might be overwelmed by the technology.

The good news is that you can create your own Virtual World without having to deal with any supertechnology. You can create anything you can think of by simply writing your own scripts on Wordpad, which is on every computer for free, and getting a free download of a VRML viewer. All this will cost you is time!! Read through this article and the other Discussion topics to get a good understanding of what VRML scripting is about. Then complete the exercises in the Geometry section to start you on your way to creating your own Virtual World.

One of the most important things about VRML, as in other program languages, is that it is unforgiving. The format, or syntax, is formated for it to be universal. You can type whatever you like in Wordpad, but if the VRML viewer can't understand it, then your script will not run. When it comes to writing VRML script, there is no room for creativity. Leave out a bracket{, or put it in the wrong place and your script will not run. So, take your time, be careful and you will be fine.

VRML is for everyone. You don't need a special education, or lots of money. All you need is a vision and the will to create. The rest will take care of itself.

I am glad you are here. Stay and have fun!!
